IPPO ensures peace and order for ‘Piesta Minatay’

ILOILO – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has started deploying policemen to various cemeteries around the province in preparation for All Saints’ and All Souls’ days on Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.

According to IPPO director, Police Colonel Noel Aliño, they anticipate a huge volume of people in cemeteries ahead of Piesta Minatay.

In addition, Aliño said, it is necessary to monitor possible incidents or entry of prohibited items, such as alcoholic beverages, bladed and flammable materials, firearms, sound systems, and gambling paraphernalia, for the safety of the visitors inside the cemetery.

He also ordered the police to be on full alert against robbery and holdup incidents.

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is also showing readiness; police deployment will begin tomorrow, Oct. 28.

According to ICPO director, Police Colonel Leo Batiles, they will place a helpdesk at the entrance of each cemetery.

They will also check the items that are brought inside, including the COVID-19 vaccination card, as per Mayor Jerry Treñas’ order that only fully and partially vaccinated individuals will be allowed to enter cemeteries./PN
