Jail officer shoots Murcia man to death

Bacolod City – A jail officer was arrested in a shooting incident in Barangay Salvacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

The 34-year-old Jail Officer II Reuben Gyle Severino allegedly shot 34-year-old resident Louie Gora, a police report showed.

According to police investigators, Gora was armed with an improvised 12-gauge shotgun when he tried to shoot Severino around 10 p.m. on Dec. 14.  

This prompted Severino to shoot Gora using a 9mm-caliber service firearm, the report added.

Gora died of gunshot wounds on the body, police said.   

Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells of a 9mm-caliber firearm and an improvised shotgun with a live bullet, the police added.

Severino was detained in the Murcia municipal police station’s custodial facility, facing charges./PN
