ROXAS City – Jealousy allegedly sent a man in a fit of rage to assault his wife in Sitio Luyo, Barangay Culasi, Roxas City.
The suspect, 42-year-old Stephen Lejos, allegedly stabbed his 44-year-old Lourdes multiple times, sending her to the hospital in critical condition.
According to “Kading,” the barangay’s chief tanod, they found the Roxas City Emergency Response Team providing initial medical care to the victim at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, while conducting patrols.
He added that village authorities have intervened between the couple several times due to their frequent fights, allegedly caused by Lejos’ jealousy.
On the night of the incident, Lourdes’ sibling claimed to hear a commotion in the couple’s house and broke in the door to find out about the stabbing. The sibling added that had the victim not been found immediately, Lejos might have killed her.
The suspect was immediately turned over to the Roxas Component City Police Station, as the family is determined to file charges./PN
