AKLAN – Authorities seized 100 grams of suspected shabu valued at P800,000 from a drug peddler in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Cabangila, Altavas, Aklan.
The operation by the Altavas municipal police and Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led to the arrest of suspect 27-year-old electrician Japhet Tornalejo, a resident of Jaro, Iloilo City.
An undercover cop handed the P39,500 marked money to the suspect in exchange for a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing the illegal drugs during the buy-bust near the Aklan-Capiz boundary on Monday morning, March 18.
“Sa Iloilo pa ku halin sakay ang motorsiklo bag-o ang buy-bust. Subong lang ku nagkadto di, ginpadul-ong man lang na sa akun,” the suspect said.
Operatives confiscated 10 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu inside the suspect’s Tornalejo would face charges under Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Altavas police chief Lieutenant Ryan Batadlan said the high-value target is distributing illegal drugs to Kalibo, Aklan, and neighboring towns.
“Abu ang iya nga nabitbit nga druga. May kaibahan pa na ang suspek sa amun monitoring. Hindi siya drug surrenderee,” the police chief added./PN
