MANILA – The number of employment opportunities for fresh graduates grew by 10 percent in the first three months of the year, online job site JobStreet Philippines revealed.

In a roundtable in Mandaluyong City, JobStreet Philippines country manager Philip Gioca said there were a total of 52,000 job opportunities for new graduates in the first quarter of the year.

“More fresh graduates are now being recruited as there are more needs in manufacturing and production industries,” Gioca said.

According to the latest data available from JobStreet, most of the employers look at attitude as the main factor in considering a job opportunity, followed by communication, analytical thinking.

“It is really the soft skills that are eventually being a key factor in determining whether a fresh graduate will be accepted into a company,” said Gioca.

JobStreet earlier this year also reported a 10-percent growth in employment opportunities for fresh graduates in 2017.

The same company noted, however, that only 24 percent of employers are willing to hire fresh graduates of the K to 12 program. (GMA News)
