Kabankalan drug op nets farmer

BACOLOD City – A farmer was arrested in a drug buy-bust around 9 p.m. Friday at J.Y. Perez Highway, Barangay 1, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Superintendent Jonel Guadalupe identified the suspect as Jerry Biatin Rubio, 48, a farmer and newly-identified drug personality, resident of Purok Crotons, Barangay Tampalon.

The suspect attempted to resist arrest upon sensing he was dealing with an undercover agent, but he had already handed over one heat-sealed sachet of suspected “shabu” in exchange for P500 in buy-bust money.

Rubio was cornered at MHD Builders Bargain as the other police personnel rushed to assist in the arrest.

Found in his possession were five heat-sealed sachets of suspected “shabu” and cash amounting to P485.

The confiscated illegal drugs have an estimated market value of P20,000.

The suspect was detained and charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
