ILOILO City – In Barangay F. Parcon Ward, Pototan, Iloilo a village councilman was able to elude Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives raiding his house for illegal drugs.

PDEA operatives and the police of Pototan searched the house of 48-year-old Jose Hiso around 8:30 p.m. on Monday but the suspect wasn’t there.

Hiso likely fled through the backdoor of the house, said PDEA.

Still, the operatives were able to recover three big sachets of shabu, drugs paraphernalia, ammunition for different guns, magazines for an M16 rifle and money worth P820.

Hiso, a former village chief of F. Parcon, was considered a high-value drug target. His house was raided over a week after the arrest of former Intaulan, Pototan barangay captain Ramon Platon on Feb. 25.

PDEA operatives recovered from Platon’s house shabu worth P8 million.

According to Senior Inspector Bonifacio Alabe, Pototan police chief, Hiso voluntarily surrendered to the police in July 2016 after the Philippine National Police launched Oplan Double Barrel against illegal drugs.

Hiso claimed he was a mere drug user but Alabe said they received information that the suspect was also trading shabu.

“Hiso became the No. 1 drug personality in Iloilo province after Platon was arrested. He was placed under surveillance last year yet,” said Alabe.

Higo got his supply from Platon, the police chief added.

At the time of his arrest, the 50-year-old Platon was listed No. 1 in PDEA’s list of suspected drug personalities in Iloilo province./PN
