KALIBO, Aklan – Water consumers in this capital and other towns are assured of a 24/7 supply of clean and potable water, the Metro Kalibo Water District (MKWD) has said.
MKWD general manager Edmund Peralta said the pipe replacement project will make their services more efficient.
It will also address water turbidity problem in some areas the water district covers, Peralta added.
MKWD caters to 28,000 concessionaires in the municipalities of Kalibo, New Washington, Balete, and Banga, and barangays Caiyang, Magubahay, Cabugao, Lalab, and Camaligan in Batan.
These include both residential and commercial consumers.
Peralta said the MKWD has received complaints regarding the turbidity and low pressure of its supply.
“Give us time to improve water services. We are aware of water turbidity. [‘Yung] mga old pipes ay dapat palitan na bagong water pipes,” Peralta added.
He stressed that replacing the old pipes – which are corroded and clogged – with new ones is seen as a long-term solution to water service interruptions like low water pressure and unavailability of water supply.
Peralata was the former board chairman of the MKWD. He assumed his current post in January this year.
Engineer Rogelio Estanislao, MKWD former officer-in-charge, is Peralta’s assistant general manager.
