‘Kill those who resist checkpoint inspections’

MANILA – As the 2019 midterm elections draw near, President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the police and military to neutralize those who violently resist inspection at checkpoints.

Speaking to the media in Daraga, Albay on Wednesday evening, President Duterte said he issued a directive to the Armed Forces of the Philippines and police to maintain law and order.

“Magdala ka ng baril, magdaan ka ng checkpoint at sabihin mo hindi ako papara kay governor ako, mayor ako? Ang utos ko sa pulis pati military, putang ina, patayin mo,” said Duterte.

He urged the public to bear with checkpoints.

“Gawin mo lang rin inutil ‘yung mga sundalo ko, pati pulis ko? Ayaw ninyo magpaniwala? May checkpoint hindi kayo magpara kasi governor ka or mayor ka? Putang ina! Ang utos ko, totoo ‘yan. ‘Pag ayaw huminto, makipag-away sa inyo, barilin mo. Iyan lang, simple ‘yan,” said Duterte.

Police officers will provide security for everybody, including those who will be attending campaign rallies and meetings, the President added.

“If there is a stupid idiot there on the loose, guguluhin niya o create a world of violence. Huwag ninyong gawin ‘yan kasi mahirap,” Duterte said.

According to the President, he ordered checkpoints to be mobile.

“The police and military can set it up anywhere. Please do not violate the law because you will be arrested,” said Duterte.

The five-month election period will begin on Jan. 13, 2019.

The midterm elections are on May 13, 2019./PN
