ROXAS City – An unattended lighted candle almost burned down a house in this capital city.

Fire hit the house owned by couple Ricky and Marilyn Bersabal at around 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 26 in Barangay 2.

According to fire investigators, no one was around when the blaze started.

The Bersabals left for Panay town at 7:30 a.m., leaving behind the lighted candle on top of a plastic cabinet inside their bedroom.

“We received a fire call coming from Erwin Estorque at around 8:30 a.m.,” Fire Officer 3 Marlon Garbo of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Roxas City told Panay News.

The BFP declared a “fire out” at 8:42 a.m. The blaze left partial damage amounting to around P50,000.
