ILOILO City – A resident of Barangay Rizal Pala-Pala Zone 1, City Proper was detained for possessing a knife while on board a tricycle.

Ronel Hipolito, 28, was arrested at a checkpoint around 9 p.m. on May 29 on General Hughes Street, Barangay General Hughes, City Proper, a police report showed.

Police Officer 2 Neil Eric Goniabo of Police Station 1 noticed a “suspiciously protruding object” on Hipolito’s right waist.

Goniabo and Chief Inspector Aldrin Lamera, Police Station 1 commander, checked and found out the object was a knife — more or less 9 inches long — in a scabbard.

Hipolito was hauled to the Police Station 1 lockup cell. The station’s exhibit custodian kept the weapon./PN
