KRIS Aquino and First Lady Liza Marcos enjoyed a friendly lunch together at the recent birthday celebration of their mutual friend, fashion designer Michael Leyva.

In an Instagram post from Leyva’s circle on Friday, Oct. 24, Aquino was photographed seated beside the First Lady at the lunch event.

“For today – with The Aquinos and The Marcoses ,” wrote Instagram user Ace Nava. “Different colors, one good day.”

In the comments section, netizens shared their positive reactions to the two women’s encounter, specifically Aquino’s improved appearance amid her battle with 11 autoimmune diseases.

“Omg, so nice to see Krissy looking so healthy and rosy,” wrote one netizen.

“Miss @krisaquino is recovering. The whole country misses you, Queen!” added another netizen.

Aquino and Marcos are related through the First Lady’s aunt Demetria Sumulong, who married the actress-host’s maternal grandfather Don Jose “Pepe” Cojuangco.

The Aquinos and Marcoses also share a longstanding, complex political history and have always been considered rivals.

Kris is the daughter of former President Corazon Aquino and Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., and sister to former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Liza is married to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., scion of the Marcos political dynasty.

Their families’ feud dates back to the martial-law era and the overthrow of President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. by the People Power revolt in 1986, which catapulted Corazon to the presidency.

Meanwhile, Aquino, who has been vocal about her health struggles, recently revealed that she survived some more surgical procedures in the past two months for her autoimmune diseases. (Jessica Ann Evangelista © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
