Kris Aquino revealed she recently underwent surgical procedures as her medical team started a “more aggressive treatment” to keep her alive amid her 11 autoimmune diseases.
The Queen of All Media documented her recent hospitalization through a video on her Instagram page on Aug. 22, sharing her request to her doctors.
“I asked my team of doctors to please get my surgical procedures done before Aug. 21,” she said, referring to the death anniversary of her dad, former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.
While Kris did not expound on the first surgical procedure she underwent, she shared she had another procedure done for the placement of her port-a-cath.
A port-a-cath, according to the National Cancer Institute, is “a device usually placed under the skin in the right side of the chest, and is attached to a catheter that is threaded into a large vein above the right side of the heart.” This is used to administer medications, fluids, or to draw blood.
“While writing this happy tears are flowing because I’m remembering how much our mom endured for us,” she continued, referring to her late mom, former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino.
“She also had a port-a-cath surgically implanted, yet we never heard her complain, and she didn’t have a pain management doctor.”
Kris then reiterated her sons Josh and Bimby as the reason why she continues to endure.
“My doctors have the next six months while I’m in isolation, to figure out the best treatment plan for someone with as many allergies to medicine, food and the environment,” she stated. “For me it’s rehabilitation physical therapy, resuming my love for cooking with an ‘assistant,’ and another tutorial-based activity because one is never too old to continue stimulating the brain.”
Concluding her post, Kris said she made the new hashtag “Laban Kris” as a reminder of her gratitude to those who continually pray for her healing.
