ILOILO City – In Barangay Rizal, La Paz district, a heated argument over rent ensued between a boardinghouse caretaker and a tenant.
The incident prompted caretaker Ronald Castillo, 38, to threaten tenant Rosemari Buñag, 43, with a knife, a police report showed.
Castillo was detained at the La Paz police station custodial facility at around 10 a.m. on Sunday.
A misunderstanding occurred between them while Castillo, who was believed drunk, was trying to collect rent from Buñag.
Castillo got irked and punched Buñag twice on the right shoulder. He then took a knife and brandished it at her, police said.
Her cousin grabbed the knife, allowing Buñag to run and seek help from barangay tanod Bernardo Pacenal.
Buñag and Pacenal then arrested Castillo and turned him over to the La Paz police. (Carolyn Jane Abello, trainee reporter/PN)
