MANILA – Reigning back-to-back UAAP women’s volleyball champion De La Salle University Lady Spikers was set to play in an exhibition game in Iloilo City and Negros Occidental this August.
Iloilo sportsman Ruding Villaruz told Panay News on Wednesday the Lady Spikers will be facing a fellow UAAP volleyball squad, which will be revealed in the days to come.
“Ilonggo and Negrense volleyball fans have been clamoring for the DLSU Lady Spikers to play here for a long time, and I am glad to announce that it will finally happen this August,” said Villaruz.
“I will announce in the days to come who they will face. Basta UAAP team din,” he added. “Actually we have invited other UAAP schools but sadly some of them did not respond.”
Expected to lead the way for the Lady Spikers were Ilongga Aduke Ogunsaya, as well as veterans Mary Joy Baron, Kim Kianna Dy, Desiree Cheng, Ernestine Tiamzon, and Dawn Macandili.
Other players in Lady Spikers roster were Michelle Cobb, May Luna, Norielle Ipac, Gyra Barroga, Arianne Layug, Carmel Saga, Princess Tiu, Marta Roces, Aljan Pielago, and Rovena Instrella.
“I am inviting Ilonggo and Negrense volleyball fans. This is a rare opportunity that the DLSU Lady Spikers are playing here,” said Villaruz, who also organized the DLSU-Ateneo De Manila University alumni volleybelles exhibition match last year./PN
