BACOLOD City – A laborer on his to way to work was shot dead in Barangay Tagoc, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Police identified him as 47-year-old resident Jerry Boy Caldo.
Caldo sustained a gunshot wound on the lower armpit. He was rushed to the Tabugon Hospital in Kabankalan City but the attending physician declared him dead on arrival, police said.
Tagged suspect was 53-year-old Jose Marie Hervias, also a resident of the village.
It was around 6 a.m. on Sept. 11 a.m. when Hervias allegedly fired at Caldo who was on his way to work on board a motorcycle.
The motive in the shooting, however, was not immediately established.
According to police investigators, the suspect initially tried to hide at the house of Ricardo Jerota in Barangay Tabugon but later surrendered to the police.
The Kabankalan police were able to recover from Jerota’s house an improvised shotgun, an empty shell and six live bullets of a 12-gauge shotgun.
Hervias was detained and charged./PN
