Livingstones-Bacolod, La Paz High in Plagata Cup volley semifinals

LIVINGSTONES International School-Bacolod and La Paz National High School advanced to the semifinals round of the Victor C. Plagata Cup Season 14 secondary girls volleyball after sweeping their matches at the Bingawan Civic Center in Bingawan, Iloilo.

Led by Aya Bya Garovillo, Livingstones kicked off their campaign on Wednesday evening with a straight set win over Iloilo Doctors’ College before following it with a sweep over Bingawan National High School on Thursday.

La Paz National High School also made it to the semifinals round after defeating Central Philippine University Golden Lions and Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion.

The third and fourth semifinals seats are to be battled upon between Iloilo Doctors’ College, Bingawan National High School, Golden Lions and Purisima in the crossover quarterfinals.

In men’s open, Navigators and Bingawan cruised to a 2-0 starts in the bracket after both defeating Bingawan and Angels team, while Central Philippine University and Pavia goes 1-0 in the other bracket.

Bingawan National High School, on the other hand, split their two matches in the tournament with a victory over Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion before losing to Pavia team.

The volleyball event is a regular fixture in Bingawan, Iloilo every May since 2005. It portrays the love and passion of the people for the game of volleyball./PN
