Lockdown lifted in 4 Bacolod ‘ultra risk areas’

BACOLOD City – The local government unit here has lifted the lockdown imposed in four areas considered as “ultra risks” or those with residents who may have been tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairman of Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19, said they already lifted the lockdown in Purok Banaue, Barangay Villamonte; Eroreco Subdivision, Barangay Mandalagan; J. R Torres Subdivision, Barangay Singcang-Airport; and Rosario Heights Subdivision, Barangay Taculing.

Familiaran added the city still has five remaining “ultra risk areas” that inlcude Doña Juliana, Barangay Taculing; Purok Sabes, Barangay Villamonte; Purok Bulak, Barangay Mandalagan; East Homes 3, Barangay Estefania; and Purok Bayanihan, Barangay Banago.

Meanwhile, 78 households in Purok Bayanihan, Barangay Banago were sealed off on Sunday after a resident of the village got tested positive for COVID-19 – the city’s 9th case.

According to Dr. Grace Tan, chief of the City Health Office (CHO) Environment and Sanitation Division chief, the patient – a 65-year-old woman – had no history of travel to places with confirmed COVID-19 and it has no close contact to a COVID-19 positive.

Barangay Banago chairman Ricky Mijares Sr. said they immediately sealed off the village to preempt a possible massive spread of the infection” in these areas due to confirmed positive cases.

The CHO has already conducted contact tracing in Purok Bayanihan where the patient’s house was located.

Recently, Mayor Evelio Leonardia created the Bacolod City Exit Planning Team to determine how the city will move forward once the enhanced community quarantine ends on April 30.

The body was chaired by Councilor Archie Baribar with executive assistant George Zulueta as vice chairman.

The mayor said the city government is “trying to reconcile and synchronize as much as possible” its actions with the steps taken by the national government./PN
