SAN JOSE, Antique – A person died while a road was turned temporarily impassable amid the low pressure area (LPA) in the province, a disaster management official said.

The unidentified victim perished in a flash flood that hit barangays Vilvar and Baladjay in San Remigio town on Monday, according to Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Broderick Train.

Before dawn on Tuesday, strong winds toppled an acacia tree that totally blocked a national highway in Barangay Igbobon, Patnongon, Train said, citing a call from the town’s disaster management officer.

Disaster management office personnel from Patnongon and the adjacent Bugasong town managed to clear the road around 5:30 a.m., allowing vehicles to pass through, Train said. (PNA)
