BACOLOD City – The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) has cleared one of its traffic enforcers of physical assault allegations following an internal investigation into a roadside apprehension along Araneta-Hernaez Street in Barangay 38, Bacolod City.
In an official statement, LTO-NIR said the investigation concluded that no physical assault or excessive use of force occurred during the incident, which involved a motorist who allegedly attempted to evade enforcers after being flagged down for multiple traffic violations.
The agency noted that the determination was reached following a review of incident reports from enforcement officers and sworn statements from eyewitnesses at the scene.
LTO-NIR emphasized that its field personnel undergo rigorous training to maintain composure and restraint, even during high-stress traffic enforcement operations.
“Ang mga enforcers ta wala gapangdukol. They are trained to handle traffic violators with the highest level of professionalism and restraint even in high-stress situations. Bale pila na ka enforcer ang gin-agyan niya bag-o siya napunggan kay nag-attempt siya nga malagyo,” said LTO-NIR officer-in-charge Regional Director Jeck Conlu.
The agency also reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against violence and misconduct, saying personnel found responsible for abuse, assault or violations of established protocols would face administrative and legal consequences.
At the same time, LTO-NIR said it would stand behind its personnel when allegations are determined to be unfounded, particularly when they arise from lawful traffic enforcement operations.
