ILOILO City – “If we have good police-community partnership, half of our work is done.”
Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, regional police director, stressed this as this month’s best police offices and officers in the area of police-community relations (PCR) were recognized at Camp Delgado.
“The PCR office is seen as the least important among the quad-staff but it is actually equally important as the police’s intelligence, operations and investigation offices…This is why we engage communities in our projects,” said Bulalacao.
The Capiz Police Province Office (CPPO) was hailed the best among police provincial offices in Western Visayas in PCR for the month of July.
The town of Dao, Capiz was best in the municipal level and Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in the city category.
According to Bulalaco, one program of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) that needed community support was the recently launched “Tohang Kontra Ginadumili-an nga Pusil” – a campaign against loose firearms.
People should be encouraged to surrender to the police their loose guns, he stressed.
Two police officers of the CPPO were also cited as most outstanding PCR personnel – Dao police chief Senior Inspector Peter John Pisuena (junior PCR officer) and Roxas City police chief Superintendent Dante Tayco (senior PCR officer).
