Man collecting seashells stabbed

BACOLOD City – He was just collecting seashells at the shore in Barangay Old Poblacion, Escalante City, Negros Occidental when he was attacked, police said.

The 69-year-old Herman Gonzaga of Sagay City, Negros Occidental sustained stab wounds in the arm and stomach, a police report showed.

He was rushed to the Vicente Gustilo District Hospital in Escalante City where he was currently under treatment.

Eight persons attacked Gonzaga for no apparent reason around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, police said.

One of them was identified as 20-year-old Escalante City resident Marso Hit, who allegedly stabbed Gonzaga twice.

Police have yet to establish the motive in the stabbing. They were also still finding Hit and the other suspects, who fled after the incident./PN
