Man killed in Hamtic road crash

ANTIQUE – A 33-year-old truck helper was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after he jumped out of the wing van in Barangay Calacja 1, Hamtic town around 3:20 a.m. yesterday, August 27.

Jonavan Pedro, a resident of Sitio Libudon, Barangay Walker, San Remigio town, succumbed to severe head and chest injuries at Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in San Jose de Buenavista.

According to the investigation of the Hamtic Municipal Police Station (MPS), the wing van driven by Neomar Gilbaliga, 40, and a resident of 2910 Apelo Cruz St., Pasay City, was loaded with 100 sacks of rice and 150 sacks of feeds from Iloilo City.

While negotiating a curved road on its way to Sibalom town, the van’s left wing opened causing the cargo to fall off the road.

Pedro, who was sleeping on top of the cargo, was awakened and panicked. He reportedly jumped out of the wing van, police said./PN
