Man nabbed for indiscriminate firing in Badiangan

ILOILO — A 46-year-old man was arrested by authorities after allegedly firing a firearm indiscriminately in Barangay Bita-oyan, Badiangan, Iloilo.

Police identified the suspect by the alias “Biboy,” single and a resident of the area.

According to the Badiangan Municipal Police Station led by officer-in-charge Capt. Jorge Lenantud, police officers immediately responded to the scene at around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 3, after receiving a phone call from concerned residents reporting that the suspect was firing a gun.

During the arrest, police recovered a caliber .45 handgun along with one live ammunition. The suspect failed to present any legal documents or permits for the firearm.

The suspect was detained at the Badiangan MPS custodial facility, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The operation was conducted as part of the ongoing crackdown on loose firearms by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office under the leadership of Col. Bayani Razalan, aiming to prevent crime and ensure community safety across the province./PN
