BACOLOD City – A sugarcane worker was stabbed to death in Barangay Linao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
The 25-year-old Elmer Pedro of Barangay Uloc, Lawaan, Antique died of stab wounds on the body, a police report showed.
Police identified the suspect as Elmer’s 45-year-old brother Alvin.
According to police investigators, Elmer and Alvin were harvesting in a sugarcane field when a heated argument ensued between them around 11 a.m. on Monday.
This prompted Alvin to stab Elmer, the report added.
It was not immediately established what triggered the altercation.
Elmer was rushed to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City where the attending physician declared him “dead on arrival.”
Alvin was arrested and detained in the Kabankalan City police station’s custodial facility. Charges will be filed against him./PN
