ILOILO City – A drinking spree in Barangay Poblacion, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo led to the fatal stabbing of a 52-year-old man.

Ricky Pamplona of Barangay Rumbang, Pototan, Iloilo succumbed to multiple stab wounds on the body, police said.

Pamplona’s co-worker John Dela Peña, 26, of Barangay Palasyawan, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo was tagged suspect.

According to police investigation, Pamplona and Dela Peña were having a drinking spree when a heated argument ensued between them around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 20. This prompted Dela Peña to stab Pamplona using a bladed weapon, police said. But it was not immediately established what triggered the altercation.  

The suspect was arrested and now detained in the lockup cell of the Barotac Viejo police station, facing charges./PN
