ILOILO City – Sixty grams of suspected shabu valued at around P408,000 were seized from a high-value drug suspect in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Jose, Arevalo district around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12.
The 32-year-old Mark Anthony Castillo was a resident of Barangay San Juan, Molo district.
Officers of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the Police Regional Office 6 caught the suspect after selling a suspected shabu to a poseur buyer for P20,000.
“Medyo matagal na sinubaybayan natin siya at ng mag-positive ang ating test buy we immediately transacted with him until nakuha natin siya,” said Major Rommel Anicete, chief of RDEU.
He added that the suspect was once arrested in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City for the same offense.
“Patuloy ang monitoring natin sa kanilang movements. We have to conduct operations for those who want to venture into this business kasi alam natin na malapit na ang Dinagyang Festival,” Anicete said.
The suspect will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
