MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. announced the successful securing of new investment deals during his recent working visit to Osaka, Japan, which are expected to generate employment, boost foreign investments, and strengthen the Philippines’ leadership in sustainable development.
“These projects will generate jobs and position the Philippines as a leader in clean energy and green shipping,” Marcos said in his arrival message on Sunday evening.
Among the key deals finalized was a waste-to-energy partnership between Kanadevia Corporation and Philippine Ecology Systems Corp., alongside a green shipbuilding initiative led by the Tsuneishi Group in Cebu. The project will see the construction of the world’s first methanol dual-fueled KAMSARMAX bulk carrier.
The President also inaugurated the Philippine Pavilion for the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, underscoring the country’s commitment to innovation, culture, and sustainability. “It tells the world the story of a nation rich in culture, driven by innovation and committed to building a sustainable and inclusive future,” he said.
As part of efforts to further expand tourism and employment opportunities for Filipinos, Marcos held meetings with officials of the Japan Tourism Agency, Japan Association of Travel Agents, Japan-Philippines Tourism Council, Kansai Airports, and executives of Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific.
He also engaged with representatives from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency to explore cooperation in space technology, particularly in enhancing disaster monitoring, agricultural productivity, and community safety.
