ILOILO City – The suspect in the murder of the masseuse in a motel in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao district voluntarily surrendered to police in Valladolid, Negros Occidental yesterday afternoon.
Rommel John “Dikit” Escasa Celestre was in the custody of the Mandurriao police as of this writing.
This was confirmed by Iloilo City Police Office spokesperson, Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines.
On April 1, Christine Gabayeron, 38, was found dead inside Room 111 of Queen’s Court Drive-in Hotel. She sustained cuts on her face, neck and chest, police said.
The victim, however, died due to head injuries from being hit several times with a bottle, based on the result of the autopsy performed by Dr. Owen Lebaquin, retired medico-legal officer of the Police Regional Office 6.
“Nakita man sa autopsy nga sa kinatawo sang victim wala sang pagpwersa nga natabu, pero namitiran siya,” Police Lieutenant Joebert Amado, deputy commander of the Mandurriao police station, said.
Amado further said the suspect has no permanent address; he moved from one place to another and worked as a construction worker, trisikad and tricycle driver.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas thanked the city police headed by Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica for the swift progress of the case.
“The actions of the PNP clearly show that everything is fine to make Iloilo City safe. The City of Iloilo will continue to support you in every way we can,” said Treñas./PN
