BACOLOD City – Two foreigners complained to the police that they lost cash and valuables while watching the Street and Arena Dance Competition – School Category of the 37th MassKara Festival on Saturday.
Stuart Melton told Police Station 1 he was on Araneta Street around 3:50 p.m. when he noticed his P700 cash, driver’s license and other personal belongings were missing. He believed his pocket had been picked.
His companion, Filipina Riza Villarico, also found that her shoulder bag had been slashed and her mobile phone worth P14,000 was missing.
Another foreigner, William Elias Carl, also reported to Police Station 1 that his pouch went missing while he was at the public plaza around 6 p.m. He said the pouch contained his driver’s license, credit cards and passport.
The contest’s School Category was held on Lizares-Araneta streets (street performance) and the public plaza (arena performance).
Police earlier advised revelers to be on guard to protect themselves from pickpockets.
A resident of Talisay City, Negros Occidental also fell victim to a pickpocket while watching Electric MassKara on Lacson Street on Oct. 21.
Agustin Cabansag told Police Station 2 he lost P30,000 cash./PN
