MANILA — Agjanti Miller delivered a sizzling all-around performance to keep San Beda University on top of the NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball standings, steering the Red Lions to a 62-50 triumph over the struggling San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags on Sunday at the Playtime FilOil Center in San Juan.
Miller torched the Stags’ defense with 24 points, including two treys, and added six rebounds in a commanding display that reaffirmed San Beda’s championship credentials. Teammate Jomel Puno added muscle inside with a double-double of 10 points and 17 rebounds as the Red Lions improved to 6-1.
San Beda wasted no time establishing control, bursting to a 28-14 first-quarter advantage and pushing the lead to 23 points in the second period. Though the Stags rallied late to close within 46-54, Miller answered back with clutch buckets that sealed the Red Lions’ sixth win.
Jhuniel Dela Rama stood out for San Sebastian with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Ian Cuajao added 10 points as the team slid to 1-7.
In the other game, Colegio de San Juan de Letran continued its resurgence, overwhelming Arellano University, 83-65, to bag its fifth consecutive victory.
Kevin Santos paced the Knights with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Mark Omega contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds. Johnsherick Estrada added 15 in a balanced attack that powered Letran to a 5-3 record.
After a tight opening frame, the Knights broke away in the second quarter for a 42-33 halftime lead and never looked back, extending the gap to as many as 20 points in the final period.
Renzo Abiera tallied 15 points and King Vinoya 14 for the Chiefs, who dropped to 3-5 in Group A./PN
