ILOILO City – Good manners and right conduct are a must for every employee of the city government, stressed City Administrator Hernando Galvez.
He was reacting to a recent catfight between two female city hall employees – a wife of a city councilor and a former staff of that councilor.
Though Galvez refused to comment on the root cause of the hair-pulling incident, he said the conduct of all city government employees at city hall is subject to “administrative action.”
The hair-pulling incident happened at the sixth floor of the city hall where city councilors were holding office.
“The personal lives of our employees are none of our business but they must conduct themselves properly at city hall. Ill-behavior will reflect badly on their offices,” said Galvez.
He vowed to conduct an investigation on the catfight.
“With respect sa aton city hall employees, basically ang general authority ara sa city mayor and sa akon as delegated, sa Civil Service Commission, sa Ombudsman. However, with respect sa appointees sang aton city council, didto na ya, basta appointed, lain naman ang disciplining authority, lain man na ang proseso. Ang aton appointed, lain man na ang proseso, ang aton job order, lain man ang proseso,” Galvez explained.
Still, possible sanctions for employees involved in public commotion, if proven true, are simple misconduct, suspension, grave misconduct, or dismissal, said Galvez./PN
