ILOILO City – A resident of Zone 3, Barangay San Juan, Molo district was accused of attacking a neighbor.

Ricardo Bernardez, 57, struck the 30-year-old Rodolfo Valenzuela with a steel pipe, the latter’s sister Mely told the police.

The 75-year-old Mely further claimed that Bernardez was armed with a knife and drunk, a police report showed.

But Bernardez, who was detained at the Molo police station, denied these.

Bernardez ran after Rodolfo and cornered him in the latter’s house at around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Mely told the police.

Bernardez hit Rodolfo. She tried to break them up but she was struck on the right arm as a result, claimed Mely.

Bernardez accused Rodolfo of influencing his grandchild to steal fish from a fellow tenant who was working at the Iloilo Fishing Port, police said./PN
