ILOILO City – Wounds and bruises were what a man and his nephew sustained after getting mauled by six men on Ledesma Street, Barangay Edganzon, City Proper.
Police told George Castro, 40, of Barangay Calumpang, Molo district and nephew Niño, 23, to seek treatment at Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district.
Six men ganged up on them while they were waiting for a jeepney ride at around 3:11 a.m. on Dec. 16, Castro told the police.
Castro identified one of their attackers as fellow Calumpang resident, 40-year-old Melver Junio, a police report showed.
Junio and his five unidentified cohorts struck Castro and his nephew with hard objects, the police report stated.
Castro sustained swelling on the right eye and forearm, while Niño was wounded on the head and right foot, had a hematoma on the back, and complained of body pains, said the police.
Police went after the attackers but caught only Junio.
Junio was detained at the Police Station 1 custodial facility while officers launched a hot pursuit against the other suspects./PN
