ILOILO City – MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power), the power distribution franchisee in this city, is helping fix broken power cables and posts in northern Iloilo province struck by typhoon “Ursula” on Christmas Day.

The MORE Power team is assisting linemen of Iloilo Electric Cooperative 3 (Ileco 3).

It is made up of electrical engineers, linemen, trucks and other necessary equipment.

Ileco 3’s service area is northern Iloilo – 13 municipalities in the 4th and 5th congressional districts divided into three Area Offices:

* Natividad Area Office covers four municipalities, namely Anilao, Banate, Barotac Viejo and San Rafael

* Sara Area Office covers five municipalities, namely Ajuy, Concepcion, Lemery, San Dionisio and Sara

* Pani-an Area Office covers four municipalities, namely Balasan, Batad, Carles and Estancia.

The MORE Power team will be helping the Ileco 3 in these areas until all problematic power lines and posts have been fixed.

The northern part of Western Visayas was under typhoon signal No. 3 from the night of Dec. 24 to the afternoon of Dec. 25. “Ursula” pummeled it with heavy rains that resulted to flashfloods and strong winds that blew away houses and toppled electric posts and trees.

“Ursula” exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility yesterday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Its weather update stated that the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers but due to localized thunderstorms./PN
