ILOILO City – Regulation Ordinance No. 2015-447 prohibits motels, lodging houses, inns, pension houses, and resorts from accepting minors.
Violators face a fine of P5,000, imprisonment of one year, and possible cancellation of their business permits, according to Nestor Canong, chief of the city government’s Task Force on Morals and Values Formation (TFMVF).
There are more or less 25 such establishments in the city.
Canong said TFMVF is on the lookout for predatory persons who may lure minors to these establishments, especially today, Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day.
“Masako naman ang mga magkahagugma. Iban ila huyog magpabulobugnaw sa medyo ligwin nga lugar,” said Canong.
He, however, made it clear that enforcing the ordinance is a daily job of the taskforce, and not only on Valentine’s Day.
According to Canong, they have reminded these establishments of the ordinance and their possible liabilities if found to be violating it.
TFMVF is also coordinating with taxi operators; drivers must sound alarm if they have minor passengers entering motels, lodging houses, inns, pension houses, and resorts.
Also, the task force will make sure that the said establishments are complying with the minimum public health standards against coronavirus disease.
