MANILA – Motolite Power Builders fueled its semifinals bid in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference via a 22-25, 25-13, 25-16, 16-25, 15-11 win over Petro Gazz Angels at the San Juan Arena.

Diana Carlos posted triple-double of 20 points, 21 excellent digs and 15 excellent receptions.

Isa Molde added 12 while Aie Gannaban and Bern Flora chimed in 10 and nine points, respectively, as the Power Builders moved up to 8-5 win-loss slate.

“It was one of those do-or-die games. Like if we lose this game, then maybe say bye-bye to the semifinals. By winning this game, we kept our hopes alive to make it to the Final Four. It’s a big relief,” said Power Builders head coach Godfrey Okumu.

After splitting the first four sets, the fifth and deciding set was a back-and-forth action with the Power Builders surging to an 11-8 advantage after Angels’ Stephanie Mercado committed back-to-back errors and a Carlos hit.

Despite the attempted rally by the Angels, the Power Builders hanged on to the advantage with Carlos converting crucial points to complete the stunning win.

Jonah Sabete tallied triple-double 14 points, 19 excellent digs and 16 excellent receptions as the Angels saw their eight-game winning run snapped to slid down to 9-3 slate.

Meanwhile, BanKo Perlas Lady Spikers sent Choco Mucho Flying Titans on the brink of elimination with a 25-20, 25-19, 27-25 victory.

Kathy Bersola top-scored with 13 points for the Lady Spikers, which improved to 9-5./PN
