ILOILO City – A motorcycle crashed against a van in Barangay Santa Felomina, Arevalo district yesterday, killing a man and a woman.

The 25-year-old Julius Gelvoleo and his motorcycle back rider 24-year-old Francine Rampart Naldoza, both of Barangay Cabasi, Guimbal, Iloilo, died at The Medical City in Molo district where they were taken.

The victims were riding in tandem on a Yamaha motorcycle that, around 2:45 a.m., hit a Toyota Grandia driven by Nelson Delos Reyes, 52, of Barangay Poblacion, Leon, Iloilo.

According to traffic investigator Police Officer 2 Ricky Ardamoy, Gelvoleo and Naldoza were on their way home and driving fast.

“Witnesses said Gelvoleo lost control of the motorcycle at a curve,” said Ardamoy.

Delos Reyes complained of pain on his knees but was otherwise okay. His three van passengers were unhurt.

Delos Reyes was taken to the Arevalo police station. His van – with a damaged windshield, left front door window and front bumper – was impounded at the station, too./PN
