ILOILO City – Three people died while three others were injured in two road crashes involving motorcycles.

The incidents in Barangay Taft North, Mandurriao district and Barangay Bito-on, Jaro district occurred on Dec. 17, police said.

The fatalities were Ronel Longno, 40, of Barangay Tabuc Suba, Jaro; Charles Vincent Hernia, 14; and Keano Evaristo, 17, both of Barangay Bito-on, Jaro.

The 77-year-old Maria Patoy of Mandurriao, 24-year-old Fretzie Dave Guevarra of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras and 19-year-old Kirvey Abuan of Jaro were hurt.

Around 10:30 p.m. in Barangay Taft North, the motorcycle driven by Longno collided against Guevarra’s. Patoy was Longno’s back rider.

An hour later in Barangay Bito-on, a motorcycle crashed into a truck driven by Ronald Anoy, 34, of Cebu City.

Abuan was driving the motorcycle, with friends Hernia and Evarista as his back riders.

Police said the motorcycle was running fast and the teenagers were not wearing helmets.

Anoy was detained at the Jaro police station lockup cell.

Guevarra was confined at St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo while Patoy was treated at QualiMed Hospital in Mandurriao.

It was not immediately clear where Abuan was taken for treatment./PN
