ILOILO City – An attempt at his life prompted a motorcycle driver to shoot a resident of Barangay Botongon, Estancia, Iloilo.
After the incident around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday in Barangay Poblacion Zone II, Estancia, the 49-year-old Patricio Lugto turned himself in to the municipal police station, a police report showed.
The victim, 54-year-old Rodolfo Mahinay, sustained a gunshot wound on the lower abdomen. He was taken to the Jesus M. Colmenares District Hospital in Estancia where he was pronounced “dead on arrival.”
Lugto, a resident of Barangay Pa-on, Estancia, used a homemade 9mm revolver, police said.
He was driving a passenger when Mahinay, who was believed drunk, waylaid him. Mahinay threatened and attempted to stab Lugto but the latter evaded the attacks until he drew out his gun and shot the former./PN
