ILOILO – A 48-year-old motorcyclist died after crashing into a truck loaded with sugarcane in Barangay Baje San Julian, Calinog, Iloilo on Friday night, January 31.
The victim identified as alias “Jose”, a resident of Barangay Bacan, Cabatuan town, reportedly counterflowed, leading to a collision with a ladder attached to the side of the truck, according to Police Staff Sergeant Alejandro Castañeda, investigator of the Calinog Municipal Police Station.
The impact caused the victim to lose control and fall from his motorcycle.
Initial reports indicate that he was not wearing a helmet.
Jose was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to severe head injuries.
The 63-year-old truck driver was taken into custody by the Calinog police station for further investigation./PN
