IF YOU are searching for a cinematic experience that blends humor, emotional depth, and a touch of whimsical wonder, look no further than “Hoppers.” Showing at SM Cinema branches nationwide beginning today, March 4, this enchanting animated feature is far more than just a “cartoon for kids”. It resonates with anyone who has ever had a soft spot for animals or a desire to make a difference in the world.

For animal lovers who find joy in rescuing street canines or furry friends, “Hoppers” is pure food for the soul. Also, if you are passionate about nature and care for glades and lakes, or if you are someone dedicated to protecting the ozone layer, this movie deserves a top spot on your bucket list.

At the heart of the story is Mabel, a 19-year-old animal lover and activist. Her passion for protecting her furry counterparts takes a groundbreaking turn when she uses experimental technology to transfer her consciousness into a robotic beaver. This unique premise sets the stage for an adventure that is as imaginative as it is heartfelt.

Mabel’s journey transcends a simple rescue mission; it is a profound exploration of empathy and the indelible bond between humanity and the natural world.

The animation in “Hoppers” is truly breathtaking, characterized by vibrant colors and meticulously detailed environments that breathe life into every frame. The dynamic interactions between Mabel, the beaver who becomes her closest friend, and the various animals she encounters are not only visually delightful but also serve as vehicles for laughter and poignant moments.

The film masterfully balances lighthearted humor with serious themes, making it a captivating experience for viewers of all ages. The characters are incredibly charming and relatable, each contributing to the film’s overarching message of kindness and understanding.

As Mabel navigates the challenges of her new form and the mysteries of the animal kingdom, she learns essential lessons about compassion and the importance of seeing the good in others.

The emotional beats hit hard, resonating long after the credits roll.

In a world where stories often prioritize action and spectacle, “Hoppers” stands out by highlighting the beauty of selflessness.

The film is also political, as it explores themes that remind viewers that everything has a political dimension.

A standout element is the character of Mayor Jerry. While he begins as a secondary antagonist, his character undergoes a significant and surprising evolution. Moviegoers should watch for his transformation as he grapples with complex moral dilemmas, making him one of the most nuanced figures in the story.

“Hoppers” portrays the coexistence of animals and humans, emphasizing that since we all share this planet, there must be a balance. We must learn the art of “give and take” to protect all living beings. The central message — “We all have to be kind” — is a powerful takeaway that lingers in the heart, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own interactions with the world.

The film, meanwhile, has already garnered rave reviews from local audiences.

SM City Iloilo hosts an advance screening of “Hoppers” at its IMAX Theater.

“You should watch Hoppers. It was so heartfelt. I love this movie very much, and I can rate it 10/10. We all have to be kind,” said a moviegoer named Hannah.

“All I can say about the movie is that it’s very interesting and there are a lot of lessons to learn. Not all the time you have to rely solely on yourself; not all decisions come only from you or from them, to prove to them that your decision is okay,” said 16-year-old Stacey Eunice Militar Jaleco.

Chelcey Venice Militar Jaleco, 14, added: “I can say that the movie is really good and very exciting. It’s a 10/10 because it’s really exciting and there are many lessons to be learned.”

Moviegoer Annika said, “It’s so emotional because they were trying to save both of their worlds. Instead of fighting, they end up working together.”

“Hoppers” is a triumph of creativity, humor, and heartfelt storytelling. It transcends age boundaries, leaving the audience with a smile and a warm heart. I wholeheartedly rate it 10/10 and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a meaningful cinematic experience.
