Muslim group commits support vs terror attacks

ILOILO City – A group of Muslim leaders in Western Visayas assured the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) of its support against terrorism.

The United Muslim Federation of Western Visayas (UMFWV) committed to back PRO-6 in ensuring security in the wake of the twin bombing incident in a church in Jolo, Sulu last Sunday, which killed at least 21 persons and injured over 100 others.

Members of the UMFWV declared their support during their first regular meeting with PRO-6 on Thursday at Caseñas Hall in Camp Delgado.

“We strongly condemn the bombing in Sulu. That’s not our way of life,” said Hadji Muamar Faisal Arumpac, chairman of UMFWV.

The meeting, which was attended by 37 Muslim leaders, focused on issues on peace and order in the region.

It was agreed that interventions like an ID system in coordination with local police stations will be implemented.

The profiling aims to prevent the entry of terrorist in Region 6.

The UMFWV is an association of “peace-loving Muslim communities.” It has been helping the police since 2012.

Regular meetings between PRO-6 and the Muslim group are conducted every quarter.

This year’s first quarter meeting was organized by the Regional Police

Community Relations Division headed by Superintendent Victorino Romanillos Jr./PN
