BACOLOD City – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) will join tomorrow’s nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill.
The simulation will start at 2 p.m. at the Bacolod City Government Center, said CDRRMO cluster head Joemarie Vargas.
Employees from city hall, the Department of Public Works and Highways and SM City-Bacolod will participate in the drill.
The Department of Education will not be joining so as not to disrupt the classes of students, Vargas said.
He added that the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) chose Bacolod as the pilot area in Western Visayas for the yearly event.
The OCD will also send a representative to observe the drill and assess the disaster preparedness of the city, said Vargas.
Meanwhile, the CDRRMO is distributing information education campaign materials containing safety tips this rainy season.
CDRRMO officer-in-charge Dondon Parandas said they want all sectors to participate in cleaning the city’s surroundings, especially the drainage systems./PN
