ILOILO City — Nearly 38,000 voters here have been removed or deactivated from the official voters’ list following a Commission on Elections (Comelec) data cleanup aimed at ensuring the accuracy of the city’s voter registry ahead of the 2025–2026 electoral period.
Comelec deactivated or deleted a total of 37,756 voters after an Election Registration Board (ERB) hearing and consolidation process conducted in January 2026. The removals covered voters who are already deceased, those who transferred their voting records to other localities, and individuals who failed to vote in two consecutive regular elections.
The hearing and consolidation process involved verifying voter records and updating the Comelec voter registration system to reflect accurate voting histories.
The exercise forms part of the continuing effort of the Office of the Election Officer–Iloilo City, headed by Election Officer IV Atty. Pinky Jevini G. Tentativa, to maintain a clean and credible voter database.
“With the deletion of 37,756 deceased voters, those who transferred their voting records and those who failed to vote in two successive elections, Iloilo City has 300,386 registered voters as of January 19, 2026 ERB Hearing,” Comelec said in an official statement.
Comelec–Iloilo City also reminded voters whose records were deactivated due to failure to vote in two successive elections to apply for reactivation within the prescribed period.
“We advise the deactivated voters by reason of failure to vote in two successive elections to apply for reactivation of their records not later than May 18, 2026,” the city elections office added.
Earlier, Comelec posted the list of approved voters per district covering the period October 20, 2025 to December 30, 2025 on the bulletin board of the Office of the Election Officer–Iloilo City at the 2nd Floor of Angeles Arcade along Mabini Street, Barangay Osmeña, to allow voters to verify their registration status./PN
