SIX infrastructure flagship projects (IFP) were completed last year while 13 more are expected to be finished this year, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said.
Data from NEDA showed that these projects include the Arterial Road Bypass Project Phase III (Plaridel Bypass), Flood Risk Improvement and Management Project for Cagayan De Oro River, and the Integrated Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Measures in the Low-Lying Areas of Pampanga Bay Project.
Other projects completed last year include the Panguil Bay Bridge, Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project, Phase V, and the Surallah-T-Boli-San Jose Road in South Cotabato.
For this year, NEDA expects the Angat Water Transmission Improvement Project-Aqueduct No. 7, C5 South Link Expressway Project, Cagayan De Oro Coastal Road, Cagayan de Oro Diversion Road Extension, Cavite Laguna Expressway, and Central Luzon Link Expressway Phase 1 to be completed.
Other projects that are expected to be completed this year are the China Aid Localized Project for Davao River Bridge, Health System-Enhancement to Address and Limit Covid-19 Project, Regional Fish Port Project for Greater Capital Region, Southeast Metro Manila Expressway, Virology and Vaccine Institute of the Philippines, Water District Development Sector Projects, and the Second Additional Financing for Philippine Rural Development Project.
“Infrastructure development remains a crucial driver of economic recovery and long-term growth,” NEDA Undersecretary Rosemarie Edillon said in a briefing at the Philippine Statistics Authority office in Quezon City on Thursday.
“It is essential to collaborate with LGUs to ensure the expedited completion of these projects and that these new infrastructures effectively promote growth within their respective areas,” she added. (PNA)
