BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental is the second go-to destination of foreigners who want to escape the winter season in their countries, according to Provincial Tourism Officer Christine Mansinares.
Mansinares has advised resorts, hotels and restaurant owners in this city and in the province to prepare for the influx of foreign tourists next month.
On Feb. 2, Mansinares said around 250 Filipino-Canadians – who are mostly retirees – will arrive in the province.
Their arrival is part of the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) program dubbed as the “Winter Escapade.”
Mansinares said the Filipino-Canadian tourists will visit Manila before Negros Occidental, then Davao Del Sur.
Mansinares added that the staff of the Tourism Board and the Office of the Philippine Ambassador to Toronto, Canada will accompany the tourists throughout their Philippine trip.
Mansinares said they are also expecting influx of tourists in the province in the last week of January./PN
