BACOLOD City – The Provincial Board of Negros Occidental had no session yesterday.
Most of the Board members were in Makati City to represent their districts in the 31stNegros Trade Fair, while others were on official business.
Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, the presiding officer, was at the fair, too.
In his absence, senior Board member Salvador Escalante was supposed to take over, but the latter was also in Makati.
The Negros Trade Fair opened at the Gloriettamall yesterday. It will run through the 18th.
It is also the Philippines’ longest running provincial trade fair held annually in Metro Manila since 1985.
It provides Negrense small and medium enterprises a venue to showcase their products for possible exportation.
More than 100 member-producers of the Association of Negros Producers, Inc. are displaying their products in around 75 booths.
Featured products range from organic food, fashion accessories and garments, and furniture to gifts, décor and housewares.
Lacson said they hope the producers may get long-term contracts with interested distributors and exporters./PN
