BACOLOD City — The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental released more than P1 million worth of insurance claims to 19 beneficiaries under the Tripartite Barangay Insurance Program during a ceremonial distribution held on January 20 at the Capitol Social Hall.
The beneficiaries were the families of deceased barangay tanods, kagawads, barangay health workers, and barangay officials from the municipalities of Calatrava, E.B. Magalona, San Enrique, Valladolid, Pontevedra, Cauayan, and Ilog, as well as from the cities of Sagay, Victorias, Silay, Talisay, Bago, and Kabankalan.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II led the distribution of life insurance checks, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to supporting barangay workers and their families during times of hardship.
Atty. Diaz said the program has consistently provided much-needed financial assistance to barangay beneficiaries, helping ease the burden brought about by unforeseen circumstances and the loss of loved ones.
Barangay officials and local chief executives who attended the ceremony expressed their gratitude to Governor Lacson for the continued implementation of the program, citing its significant role in safeguarding the welfare of barangay workers and their families across Negros Occidental, Diaz added.
The Tripartite Barangay Insurance Program, now facilitated by the Provincial Planning and Development Office, has been one of the provincial government’s flagship and high-impact programs for the past 24 years.
