BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental will go back to the normal five-day work week this November.
Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, announced this yesterday, saying the province is expected to remain under the less restrictive modified general community quarantine next month.
Bacolod City, on the other hand, has been under the General Community Quarantine where most of the capitol employees reside.
It was in late August when the provincial government adopted a four-day workweek arrangement as a measure to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Employees of offices based at the provincial capitol were required to physically report to work only from Monday to Thursday.
Meanwhile, Diaz said Nov. 5 would still be a non-working holiday for Negros Occidental.
However, there will be no celebration of the El Cinco de Noviembre due to the limitations brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nov. 5 is celebrated as “Negros Day”, a non-working holiday in the province by virtue of Republic Act 6709, which took effect in Feb. 10, 1989.
